On purchasing their first home together the Clients felt that the property looked tired and wanted to create an open plan kitchen/diner with a snug area. A contemporary kitchen/diner was designed with bifold doors accessing the rear patio area and garden. A solid fuel burner was detailed within the snug area as well as underfloor heating throughout for those winter nights in.
The Client wanted to assess options for converting their garage at the rear of their garden with consideration to a dwelling house, office, play room, workshop and mixed use space. Various forms of construction were considered by the Client including traditional masonry cavity walls, load-bearing timber construction with fibre cement cladding and a non-traditional brick slip system.
The Client had already embarked on a project to create an area for children to learn and play musical instruments. Design consultation realised the benefits of changing the existing design concepts and expanding the possibilities to provide a multifunctional Music Suite for the school and wider community to use. As a continuation we have extended this further to include a Sensory Garden for the children to explore and enjoy.
